Cebu Welcomes SPSS

Last August 25, the Strategic Research and Development Center, Inc. (STRAND-Asia) conducted a seminar entitled “Leveraging on Data Driven Solutions for Academic Excellence,” held at the Gansewinkel Hall – Law and Business School Building of University of San Carlos in Cebu City.

Ms. Jewel Brosas and Mr. Ryan Aga discussed the IBM-SPSS software capabilities and its several applications in Academe. The topics presented were basic SPSS procedures, like accessing of different data sources in IBM-SPSS, creating and editing charts, and running tabular reports and descriptive statistics, and different applications of IBM-SPSS in Academe like program evaluation, time series modeling, item analysis, relationship between teacher’s competency and student passing rate in college, and qualitative analysis using IBM-SPSS Text Analytics for Surveys.

Deans, researchers, faculty and students from different schools and colleges in Cebu joined the seminar. A total of 110 participants attended the event. Moreover, participants received an evaluation copy of IBM-SPSS software with their SPSS kits, and enjoyed answering various activities.
